pares early gains but holds above 25,000
The benchmark BSE Sensex
pared its early gains and quoted lower by 72 points in early trade
Monday on emergence of selling by funds and retail investors.
The 30-share index, which had lost over 415 points in the previous three sessions, declined further by 88.51 points, or 0.35 percent, to 25,017.
On similar lines, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty dropped 36.75 points, or 0.49 percent, to 7,474.70.
Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up by 0.36 percent while Japan's Nikkei gained 0.46 percent in early trade today.
The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.15 per cent higher in Friday's trade.
Bharti Airtel gains on definitive agreement with Loop Mobile
The 30-share index, which had lost over 415 points in the previous three sessions, declined further by 88.51 points, or 0.35 percent, to 25,017.
On similar lines, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty dropped 36.75 points, or 0.49 percent, to 7,474.70.
Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up by 0.36 percent while Japan's Nikkei gained 0.46 percent in early trade today.
The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.15 per cent higher in Friday's trade.
Bharti Airtel gains on definitive agreement with Loop Mobile
Mumbai: Shares of telecom major Bharti
Airtel Monday gained ground after the company announced signing of a
definitive agreement with Loop Mobile to create Mumbai's largest
mobile network.
Bharti Airtel stock rose over one per cent to touch a high of Rs 342.6 in opening trade at the BSE. However, it pared most of the early gains in a weak overall market and was trading 0.1 percent up at Rs 338.65 in mid-day trade.
Earlier on February 18, Bharti Airtel had announced an agreement with Loop Mobile to create "Mumbai's largest mobile network".
Taking the announcement forward, the company said this morning that it has now signed a definitive agreement with Loop Mobile (India) Limited in this regard.
Under the agreement, Loop's 3 million subscribers in Mumbai will join Airtel's over 4 million subscribers. It will also bring together Loop Mobile's network supported by 2,500 plus cell sites and Airtel's network supported by over 4,000 cell sites across Mumbai.
